Frequently Asked Questions

Does HushHush replace WhatsApp/Signal?
No. It is an encryption layer that rides on top of them, turning them into systems that cannot read your messages.
What happens if I forget my password?
There is no recovery mechanism by design. HushHush cannot access your data — that's the point. We recommend storing your password in a secure, offline location.
Is my data stored on your servers?
No. All encryption keys and messages are stored exclusively on your device. HushHush has zero access to your data — there is no cloud, no sync, and no central server.
Can I use HushHush on multiple devices?
Each device operates independently with its own local vault. To communicate with the same contact from a new device, you'll need to re-establish the encrypted channel via a new QR scan.
How do I contact someone using HushHush?
Open HushHush, create a contact, and share your QR code with them. Once scanned, a quantum-resistant encrypted channel is established. You can then type your message, tap Lock to encrypt, and paste it into any messenger.
What is Duress Mode?
Duress Mode is a safety feature for high-risk environments. You set a secondary password that, when entered, either shows a decoy vault with fake conversations or permanently destroys all real data — making it irrecoverable.
