No. It is an encryption layer that rides on top of them. You type in HushHush, it encrypts the text on your phone, and you send the result through any app. The other person decrypts it in their HushHush.

Open HushHush, add a contact, and scan each other's QR code in person. That one scan creates the shared keys. Choosing Ultra Secure adds post-quantum keys; it needs a two-way scan and is fixed for the life of that contact.

There is no recovery, by design. HushHush never stores your password, so nobody can reset it, including us. Store it somewhere safe and offline.

No. There is no HushHush server, account or cloud. Keys, contacts and messages live only inside your HushHush on your phone.

Each phone has its own HushHush. To message the same contact from a new phone, pair again with a new QR scan.

An optional second password. Enter it under pressure and HushHush opens a decoy with its own contacts and conversations, or wipes the real store, depending on what you chose. Real and decoy are encrypted identically.

Usually one of three things: the ciphertext was not copied whole (SMS and some apps split long messages, so copy every part), it was pasted into the wrong contact's chat, or the two phones were re-paired and one side still has the old pairing. Pairing again in person fixes the last one.

No. It protects the text of the message. The carrying app and your network still see who messaged whom, when, and how long the ciphertext is.
